Jersey Jerks
"Anybody who would get in a single engine aircraft to fly it across the North Sea in the winter and then chance getting shot down from flak or Luftwaffe fighters has got to be a ‘Jerk!” This was the sentiment given to New Jersey native Major General Donald J. Strait when asking why his crew named his plane the “Jersey Jerk” during World War II. Bold men like General Strait exemplified the American heroism and spirit that defined an entire generation. 80 years later, and there are still Jerks in the sky thanks to the Jersey Jerks flying team. The Jerks bring history to life in the skies above air shows across America in their historic Texan SNJ T-6s. The T-6 is famous for being the aircraft that virtually all world war two army airmen would earn their wings in. They may be called the Jersey Jerks, but their performance is anything but obnoxious.
