VMFAT-501 Warlords

Schultz Airshows and the Greater Binghamton Airport welcomes the "Warlords" of Marine Fighter Attack Training Squadron 501 (VMFAT-501), based out of MCAS Beaufort SC, to the 2024 Greater Binghamton Airshow. They will be flying the F-35B Lightning II in a flight demonstration.
The F-35B Lightning II is the newest multi-role fighter for the United States Marine Corps. Replacing the venerable F/A-18 Hornet and the AV-8B Harrier II, the F-35B is not only capable of taking off and landing like a conventional fixed-wing aircraft, but it is also capable of short takeoff and landing (STOL) as well as vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL). The F-35B utilizes a complex lift fan system to enable vertical takeoffs and landings and is the only stealth aircraft capable of this.
The F-35B is one variant of the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II; an American family of single-seat, single-engine, all-weather stealth multirole combat aircraft that is intended to perform both air superiority and strike missions. It is also able to provide electronic warfare and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities.
